Inbizzy, Redmond, Washington — Microsoft Edge has reached a significant milestone in browser performance development, achieving a global First Contentful Paint (FCP) time of under 300 milliseconds. This marks a major improvement in how quickly content appears when a user opens a webpage, directly contributing to a faster and more responsive browsing experience. The information was shared through the official Microsoft Edge Developer Blog.
This performance benchmark is based on industry research indicating that load times above 300–400 milliseconds can negatively impact user satisfaction. By surpassing this threshold, Microsoft Edge now allows content to appear almost instantly from the very first page load.
Since its last major update in February 2025, Microsoft Edge has delivered substantial performance enhancements. Average load times have been reduced by up to 40% across 13 core features, including:
Settings: The browser’s settings menu now loads more quickly, enabling users to customize their preferences with ease.
Read Aloud: This AI-powered voice feature now supports more languages and voices, with faster startup times and smoother playback.
Split Screen: Users can switch between windows and tasks more efficiently with reduced delay.
Workspaces: Work environments within Edge now load faster, offering a smoother and more intuitive multitasking experience.
Microsoft also released a demonstration video showcasing the improved loading speed of the Edge Settings interface.
