Inbizzy, Munich,— BMW Group has officially reached a new milestone in its electrification journey, selling its three-millionth electrified vehicle worldwide. The milestone was marked by the handover of a BMW 3 Series plug-in hybrid model from the Munich plant to a customer in August 2025.
This achievement was driven by significant growth in sales of both fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the first half of 2025. According to Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG for Customer, Brands, and Sales, electrified vehicles have now become a key pillar of the company’s product portfolio.
“With the delivery of the three-millionth electrified vehicle, the BMW Group has reached another important milestone, underlining the fact that electrified vehicles are a core component of our technology-neutral product portfolio. More than one in four BMW Group vehicles sold in the first half of 2025 was already electrified,” Goller stated.
Europe Leads the Market
Europe remains the largest market for BMW Group’s electrified vehicles. Over 60% of global electrified vehicle deliveries were made to the European market, where electrified vehicles now account for more than 40% of BMW Group’s total sales in the region.
BMW also reported a significant increase in plug-in hybrid sales during the first half of 2025 compared with the same period last year.
Earlier, in July 2025, BMW Group announced the sale of its 1.5 millionth fully electric vehicle, marked by the delivery of a fully electric MINI Countryman from the Leipzig plant to a customer in Portugal.
Focus on Electric, Digital, and Circular Mobility
BMW Group currently offers more than 15 fully electric models and over 10 plug-in hybrid models across all its brands. Among the highlights is the latest BMW iX, which delivers a range of over 700 kilometers under the WLTP standard.
The company emphasized that its corporate strategy will continue to focus on electric, digital, and circular mobility for the future, building on efforts that began more than 50 years ago when BMW pioneered e-mobility.
