Apple’s Foldable iPhone 2026: The Next Revolution

Inbizzy – Apple is reportedly making significant strides toward the launch of its first foldable iPhone, with OLED display production now underway. According to a report from South Korea’s ETNews, Samsung Display has initiated manufacturing of the device’s foldable panels-suggesting that Apple’s long-rumored entry into the foldable smartphone market is moving closer to reality. Sources indicate that production is taking place at Samsung’s A3 facility in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, and has reached the final stages. The upcoming iPhone with a 7-inch OLED display is expected to feature a 4:3 aspect ratio and a seamless screen with no visible crease, addressing one of the key limitations in existing foldable devices.

Samsung to Supply Foldable OLEDs Exclusively

Under a two-year exclusive agreement, Samsung Display will serve as the sole supplier of foldable OLED panels for Apple. Initial production volumes are estimated at between 6 and 8 million units-roughly half the annual output of Samsung’s own Galaxy Z series, which reached 15 million units last year.

This partnership is the latest chapter in Apple and Samsung Display’s long-standing collaboration. Samsung previously supplied OLED screens for the iPhone X and iPhone Xs, marking Apple’s transition from LCD to OLED technology.

Foldable iPhone Features and Design

The foldable iPhone is expected to debut as part of the iPhone 18 series, which is anticipated for release in 2026. Alongside the foldable variant, Apple is likely to unveil standard models such as the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Air, and iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max.

According to leaks, the foldable iPhone 2026 model will boast an ultra-thin profile-measuring just 4.5 mm when unfolded-and will incorporate a robust hinge mechanism. The device will include dual rear cameras (wide and ultra-wide) and is expected to be powered by the next-generation Apple A20 chip.

In a notable departure from recent models, Apple may replace Face ID with Touch ID, potentially integrated into the display or side button-a move that could signal a broader trend in biometric design strategy.

Foldable iPhone Price and Market Position

Pricing is expected to start around $2,000, according to MacRumors, placing the device firmly in the ultra-premium smartphone category. While Apple has not confirmed these details, market analysts suggest the move could be aimed at tech enthusiasts and early adopters seeking a next-gen mobile experience.

The launch will mark Apple’s long-anticipated entry into the foldable segment, a space currently led by Samsung, Huawei, and other Android manufacturers. With growing demand for foldable smartphones, industry watchers expect Apple’s design and ecosystem integration to raise the bar for innovation in this emerging category.

As consumers and competitors await official confirmation, questions remain: When is Apple releasing a foldable iPhone? And how will the Cupertino giant distinguish itself in an increasingly competitive foldable landscape?
