Inbizzy, Abu Dhabi — Zero Two, a digital infrastructure development and investment platform based in Abu Dhabi and part of ADQ, has officially made a strategic investment in Evolution Data Centres (Evolution), a leading sustainable data centre provider in Southeast Asia.
This marks Zero Two’s first investment in the region since its launch in 2022. The investment will provide long-term growth capital to accelerate the development of hyperscale-ready data centres in key, fast-growing Southeast Asian markets.
Under the agreement, Zero Two will assume a co-controlling position with Warburg Pincus, which initially invested in Evolution in 2022 through a joint venture to develop and expand sustainable hyperscale data centres.
Renewable Energy-Powered Expansion
Since Warburg Pincus’s initial investment, Evolution has significantly expanded its operations in Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. All new facilities will be powered by renewable energy through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with leading green energy providers.
Darren Webb, CEO and Co-Founder of Evolution Data Centres, described the partnership as a key milestone for the company:
“We are delighted to welcome Zero Two as a strategic investor. Their support will accelerate our mission to deliver sustainable, high-performance digital infrastructure across Southeast Asia. Together with our investors and partners, we are driving the next phase of digital transformation in the region.”
Supporting Cloud and AI Growth
Zero Two CEO Ahmed Al Hameli highlighted the strategic alignment with Evolution’s capabilities:
“We are excited to partner with Evolution and Warburg Pincus to support the development of digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia. Evolution’s strong market position and execution capabilities align with our long-term capital deployment strategy. Together, we will accelerate the build-out of energy-efficient hyperscale data centres to meet the region’s rapidly growing cloud and AI demand.”
Significant Market Potential
Andrew Fitzpatrick, Principal at Warburg Pincus, noted the promising outlook for modern data centre capacity in the region:
“We see strong growth potential in underserved Southeast Asian markets, where cloud and AI demand is increasing rapidly. Evolution is uniquely positioned as a pioneer in sustainable data centres, backed by leading investors and trusted local partners. The addition of Zero Two further strengthens our strategy going forward.”
With Zero Two’s entry as a strategic partner, Evolution is expected to accelerate its expansion and reinforce its position as a leading provider of sustainable digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
