Google Cloud and Qualcomm Expand AI Collaboration to Transform In-Car

Inbizzy, Munich, – Google Cloud and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. have announced an expanded strategic collaboration to deliver smarter in-car experiences powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The partnership integrates Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent, built on Google’s Gemini models, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ solutions.

This initiative enables automakers to develop multimodal, hybrid edge-to-cloud AI agents that combine the speed and reliability of on-device intelligence with the adaptability of cloud-based AI. The result is a more personalized and continuously evolving driving experience.

Personalized AI-driven mobility

Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent allows automakers to build conversational, multilingual, and customizable AI companions. By integrating with Snapdragon Digital Chassis, automakers can deploy features such as conversational navigation, entertainment, and AI-driven vehicle controls.

The collaboration also provides optimized reference architectures and prebuilt capabilities to reduce system development times, helping carmakers create brand-specific, interactive experiences that leverage both on-device and cloud-based Gemini models.

“AI will fundamentally redefine how automakers deliver in-car and around-the-car experiences—making them more intuitive, personalized, and helpful,” said Shiv Venkataraman, VP of Applied AI, Google Cloud. “Through our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, we are giving automakers a secure, brand-owned platform to design advanced AI companions with multimodal and multi-intent capabilities.”

Transforming the automotive industry

According to Qualcomm, this collaboration marks a major milestone in accelerating the automotive industry’s shift toward software-defined vehicles powered by generative AI.

“The automotive industry is on the verge of a major transformation,” said Nakul Duggal, Group General Manager of Automotive and Industrial & Embedded IoT, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Our collaboration with Google Cloud unlocks new opportunities for automakers to deliver advanced and personalized digital experiences faster and more effectively.”

A long-standing partnership

Google and Qualcomm’s automotive partnership began in 2016 with the first Snapdragon-powered embedded Android system. Since then, it has expanded to include AI-powered cockpit systems with integrated voice and navigation, as well as efforts to scale Android Automotive OS updates across the industry.

The latest expansion underscores both companies’ commitment to transforming vehicles into intelligent, connected environments, offering cutting-edge, personalized driving experiences for consumers worldwide.
